Mountain Donburi 山丼 - Taipei

山丼 or so-called Mountain Donburi is probably one of the most hype Japanese Fusion Donburi at Taipei. It's opened around Sept 2016 located in Da'an District. It places a little bit sneaky inside small alleyway. If you are a tourist and not familiar with this area, I will recommend you using google maps, it's easier.

I come around 6:30pm and inside already full packed, and probably there are around 4couples in front of me. Not sure if its always packed or because its a dinner time. But not too long waiting, around 15mins, I have arrived at the front line and ready to order at Vending Machine. 

Like some other restaurant in Japan, they have a machine that let you order the food that you want and slip money into. Not sure what to do? Do not worry, there is a staff member standby there to help you make the order and also assist you to the table assigned.

The menu itself only written in Chinese, but they attached menu pict on the button.

There are variety of beef, pork, and chicken. They have choices for it size normal or large size. Also the bottom one is for adds-on, sides, and drinks.

ps: They serve you free water too ;)

Only wait around 10mins until my food comes, and here you go !

Seared Beef with Poached Egg

This one literally my favorite, Seared beef with poached egg 岩 石 牛 排 丼 (小) NTD $ 2 9 0; or the larger size for (大) NTD $ 360 . The meat was SOOO tender,  it's well marinated, matched well with its scallions and cook just right. So fragrant and have its smoky aroma.  I was honestly a bit skeptical but turned out accepting this more that I thought I would. Every bites and calorie literally worth it.

*Every dishes all comes with miso soup.

Mountains of beef slices, yogurt, egg and green onions. 

 玫 瑰 和 牛 丼 (小) $ 2 9 0 Mountains of beef slices topped with yogurt, raw egg yolk, and green onions. / (大) NTD $ 360 . It's indeed the most-popular dish here because as you can see it's so appetizing and instagramable. Super attractive, probably the main reason why I come here.

Honestly, it doesn't taste as good as it looks. I don't know if most of you are going to like this, but personally for me The layers of meat kinda taste bland, less seasoning compares the beef seared one above. But plus point for the seasoning sauce that covered up the rice, make it tastier and flavorful. Greek yogurt and raw yolk boost its taste, tasty and creamy. 就是驚嘆 這賣相怎麼可以如此誘人! It's different standard if I compare to the original donburi from Japan, but still, it's a good visit here and it looks really appetizing too.
