Uncle Jang Korean Restaurant
The very first review of this blog will be about korean food ! yeyy! Recently , there are so many korean food in Malaysia. There's a place for you to enjoy korean food with your friends.
In Korea , there is a famous dish called Dak-Galbi. It is a stir-fry marinated diced chicken in gochujang(chili pepper paste), vegetables, tteok (rice cake) and mixed together in the hot plate. Dak-Galbi is a local speciality food in Chuncheon , South Korea.
In Malaysia, One of the famous Dak-Galbi restaurant is Uncle Jang !
Before you eat, they give you a red cloth one for you to hang it around your neck to prevent your cloth dirty because of the sauce.
The dak-galbi is included : fresh chicken chop , cabbage , sweet potato and rice cake |
The Dak-Galbi have 2 variants in different price. The Original/normal Dak-Galbi (RM 19) and the Hot-Spicy Dak-Galbi (RM22). { *FYI : the spicy dak-galbi is really Spicy ! } If you did't really like/can to eat spicy food, i would like to recommended you to order the original one.
For the Sari (Add on) they have some choices like :
Ramen, Udon, Rice Cake, Ennoki Mushroom, Cheese, Sweet potato, Fried rice, and egg. The price for Sari is between (RM 6-10)
The moments when you waiting the dak-galbi cooked is the most drooling time! It takes 4-5 minutes until it cooked :") Once Dak-Galbi done , you can grab your chopstick and take the chicken in your mouth. But I will recommen you to wrap it with lettuce. It's more delicious to consume it in traditiona;-way. At the menu that will be an instruction how to eat dak-galbi properly ( traditional-way ). There are accompaniments of whole peeled garlics and onion pickles to eat along with your dak-galbi.
The cheese was melting in the hot plate and it was really nice.
The minimum order of dak-galbi is 2 portions, and 2 portion can be consumed for 3-4 moderate eater. So make sure you come with your friends or familiy. Because the dak-galbi portion is big and huge.
Uncle Jang have a one-page menu.Other than their signature dish which is Dak-Galbi , they also provide another individual menu like Bibimbap , Samgye-tang(ginseng chicken soup) and Pork Bulgogi. Last time I ordered the pork bulgogi but it's already sold out. So I ordered the chicken bulgogi ( RM 22 ).
They have limited options of drinks. For the alcholic, they have Soju and beer. They also have soft drinks. For the plain water is FOC.
After all, the dish a little bit oily. For the Dak-Galbi the chicken was nice and tender, each side was fully marinated and cooked. The ramen and ddeokboki was tasty because they absorbed the sauce. The cabbage also soft. But they served the chicken isn't much as the cabbage . The taste was alright , It's not that good but It's not that bad either.
If I could rank it, I will give Uncle Jang 7/10. It's because the food was nice. But it's just so-so. Not really nice but it's worth to try.
Ps: collect 15 chop at the card and get FREE 1 dakgalbi 🍴
